Ana is one of Australia’s most experienced and talented flamenco artists and is an incredibly warm and generous teacher. Students of all levels will benefit from Ana’s unique approach to body technique, rhythms through palmas (hand clapping) and castanets. She puts everyone at ease with her humour yet the depth of knowledge she shares in these workshops will leave you inspired and empowered on your flamenco journey.
Body Technique and Palmas Workshops
Ana will cover how to move with fluidity whilst still accentuating movements, allowing tension and release at the appropriate moments according to the style of music. She will also focus on the carriage necessary to dance with elegance particularly in marking in flamenco.
The palmas will be focusing on the combinations used in a particular area of dance (i.e the “Llamada”(call) “escobilla” (footwork) “letra" (verse) and accompaniment to music.
In the castanets workshops we will be working on drills and combinations to strengthen your fingers for clear and strong technique. Ana will incorporate castanets with “braceo" (arm movements) and some turns.
There will also be a focus on how to use the castanets as we would footwork working on the light and shade and accentuation when needed.
All are welcome to attend in these open level workshops which will inspire every students of flamenco.
